SIGS are run by BAM members for the academic community and are on the front-line of BAM's service delivery to members. We therefore think that active engagement with the SIGs is key to getting the most out of your BAM membership.
Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are essentially networks of researchers that are interested in a particular area of business and management research. They hold events throughout the year and provide you with an academic forum for the discussion on relevant topics and a valuable source of mutual support.
Collaborative links are frequently established between SIGs and other relevant academic and professional groups, and interdisciplinary and international orientations are encouraged. Thus through its SIGs BAM can foster support for emerging areas of research, and BAM members gain opportunities to cross boundaries, develop new contacts and expand research communities.
SIGs are run by BAM Members, for Members, with support from the BAM Office. They organise workshops and events on topics and themes relevant to their research area, and take the lead in managing the academic programme at the annual BAM Conference through a variety of tracks. They also provide regular information about their activities for dissemination to the wider BAM Membership via e-mail, the BAM Newsletter and the BAM web site. You can join up to 3 SIGs when joining or renewing your BAM Membership. Members can update their choices at any time by going My Account > SIGs and Networks List. A subject area must be set up as a Conference Track first and then run successfully through 3 years’ worth of Conference’s. After this period an application for the Track to become a SIG can be made.
To obtain the Track Application Form and any other queries regarding setting up a Track please email our Conference Officer at [email protected].
If you wish to propose a SIG Event, you must contact the SIG Chair/s and get approval before contacting the BAM Office.

After this you need to email [email protected] & [email protected] with a range of proposed dates for your event. This is so it can be checked against the Events Calendar and see if the timings are feesible
Once your proposal has been approved by SIG Chair/s you will need to email the BAM Events Team with a range of proposed dates and timings for your event.
When a date and time has been agreed between facilitator and the BAM Events Team please complete and submit a proposal form.
If an event proposal is received without the dates having been agreed before hand it will most likely be rejected and cause delays.
Please double check you are completing the correct form before submitting, incorrect submissions will cause delays in processing.
Please allow 10 working days for the Event Proposal Form to be processed and for the Event itself to appear on the BAM website.
If the BAM Events Team requires any additional information or clarification on answers in the form they will be in touch.
SIG Chairs will also be cc'd in commications regarding the event.
The BAM Events team will be in regular contact and will provide updates such as registration numbers to you.
If you do have a query you can contact the BAM Event Coordinator who is handling your event.
You will not be able to check the registration numbers via the website.
The Fees change in accordance with the costs/income for each event.
If an event in organised jointly, the Attendance Fees have to reflect the two parties’ contribution.
An event qualifies as a Joint SIG Event if the contribution towards the overall costs and the organisation of the event is equally shared between the parties (SIGs) involved in organising the event.
Only one facilitator per SIG can claim reimbursement of expenses on an Event.
